Most chronic
pain first occurs as
either an acute episode, or quite mysteriously. You wake up one day in
pain or move a certain way and feel something give and end up with a
pain that won't go away. The reality is you could have done something
the day before, a week or even a month ago that overworked or strained
your body in some way and started something that has, weeks later,
become the chronic pain you now feel.
As a result
of a trauma or strain,
even bad posture, tension will build up in a muscle or area of soft
tissue to the point where the circulation is impaired and the correct
movement of that and other connected muscles is restricted, causing
more tension to build up.
Like someone
who is hunched over when
they sit at their desk, or leaning on one leg as they stand in one spot.
As
tension builds up in a muscle,
circulation is restricted and that muscle becomes weak causing other
muscles to compensate as you go about your everyday movements. These
other muscles then start to overwork, fatigue and tighten up and, for
the person who pushes themselves, one of those other muscles can
eventually tighten up and give way to a point of pain or inflammation.
When
the
pain is not confined to one area of the body or a headache that comes
and goes depending on your activity it may have more serious 'chemical'
origins in which case you will need to consult a naturopath that has a
good understanding of these chemical imbalances.
BACK PAIN.
Statistics
tell us that 9 out 10
people will experience back pain at some stage in their lives and
around 50% of them will never find out the cause. The biggest problem
for people who end up with back pain is understanding the problem and knowing where
to go to get rid of it. SLM
deals with back pain so effectively Steve Lockhart has written The Bad Back Book
as a way of
informing sufferers of everything they need to know to deal with it.

NECK
PAIN
Neck
pain invariably is the result
of what is going wrong further down the body. To treat it effectively a
therapist needs to work the on whole body to rebalance the muscles that
support the back, shoulders and neck . You might be surprised to know
that often fixing neck pain or a stiff neck is carried out hardly
touching the neck itself.
SPORTS
INJURIES and TRAUMA
INJURIES
These
come about when a part of the
body is not strong enough to withstand the pressure or force being
applied to it. When you get an injury like this certain muscles go into
spasm or areas of soft tissue are damaged and although in time the body
will heal itself, it still needs help.
SLM
Practitioners have been trained
how to put the body into a healing state allowing the injury to recover
much more quickly. After having any necessary X-Rays to clear you of
structural damage, getting SLM treatment should be your first priority.
The same
applies to the trauma and
damage caused by being operated on, getting SLM bodywork speeds up
recovery significantly.
CHRONIC
MUSCULAR PAIN
Of
all the specialist treatments,
lotions and potions available for all the conditions we can get,
chronic muscular pain is the one thing not being effectively addressed.
SLM Bodywork is the one form of therapy that specialises in the
treatment of chronic pain, consistently providing results that are
unmatched by any other therapy we know of.
There can be
many reasons for a body
having chronic pain and a lot of them don't show up on X-rays or scans.
If you aren’t happy with the way your chronic pain is being
dealt
with you may wish to consult
Steve
Lockhart online
and tap into his wealth of knowledge on
this subject.
LOW
ENERGY
Low
energy often goes hand in hand
with back or neck pain and so invariably the best way to deal with your
energy problems is to sort out your back pain. An accredited SLM
practitioner is a great starting point but if this is not possible then
Steve Lockhart's book The
Bad Back Book should give you
all the
information you need, to understand the cause of your pain and have the
confidence to know how to go about getting rid of it.
Alternatively
if you suffer from low
energy and no back or neck pain, then a live blood test and a visit to
a good naturapath would be your best starting point.
