Steve Lockhart has worked as an
SLM practitioner since 1988 specialising in the treatment of chronic
pain and injury. His new patients are usually referred to him by other
satisfied patients and this has sustained his busy practice for the
past 16 years.
He
has worked closely with many of
Australia's elite athletes from a variety of sports including,
athletics, aerobics, boxing, netball, golf, rugby, swimming, surfing,
surf lifesaving, soccer, tennis and triathlon. This has given Steve an
excellent understanding of the body and how it responds to a variety of
conditions and lifestyles.It has also been an invaluable teaching tool
as he has confronted some of the most complex injury problems presented
by athletes who are constantly putting their body under intense
physical and mental pressure.
Steve
has developed the
SLM bodywork program from what he learnt in his initial training under
John Guttenbeil and for the past eleven years has been training others
in it's theory, techniques and application. Steve's formal training was
an associate diploma in health science, completed in 1992.
For
a number of years he
also worked extensively with over 100 chronic fatigue sufferers gaining
a thorough knowledge and understanding of the condition as he
successfully treated and guided them back to good health
Steve's
expertise is undoubtably his understanding
of the body at a physical level and his ability to fix chronic pain. He
is the author of 'The
BAD BACK BOOK' written
to empower the back pain sufferers with information that will enable
them to confidently manage the treatment and rehabilitation of their
own pain without having to rely on anyone else for answers.
After
treating thousands
of people and a variety of conditions at his clinic for over a decade
Steve has gained a reputation as the person to see when all else fails
and definitely before you have the operation you are told you need.
